Artist Bio
Christian Capestany was born in Miami, FL, where he attended art magnet programs including the prestigious New World School of the Arts. Christian has shown all over the world and at Art Basel in Miami and in the Marguiles Collection.
Under the tutelage of Tom Wyroba and Jim Hunter, Christian was exposed to every avenue available of self-expression in the medium of art from assemblage, to performance art and video installations. In 2005, he was selected as a winner in the National YoungArts Foundation showcasing up-and-coming artists from around the U.S.
Upon graduating with honors from New World, he attended the Maryland Institute College of Art and studied illustration. Later, he moved to New York City to continue his studies at NYU where he received a Masters of Science in Digital Imaging and Design.
After a decade of laying artistically dormant, Christian's creative spirit awoke during the Covid-19 global pandemic. He is now working in mixed-media, exploring ideas around "borders". By examining where they lie not only physically but also spiritually and emotionally, he engages in questions about our fondness for pushing edges, crossing lines and breaking boundaries.
Christian resides in New York City with his wife, author Amy Hubbard, and is available for commissions.
